Central Ohio Home Sales Set Record High

thumbs up imagesThe Columbus Board of REALTORS® has verified what I’ve been seeing this spring. Central Ohio’s real estate market is hot!

The sales of homes in April set a record high. Last April, 1,834 homes sold while last month, we saw 2,390 home sales – an increase of approximately thirty percent! The next highest month on record is April 2004, with 2,286 home sales. There were nearly 9% more homes added to the market in April 2013 than in April 2012, a continuing trend we’ve seen this entire year so far. Additionally, home prices are rising.

I’m happy to say I was part of those numbers, and have seen several multiple offer situations. Nearly all REALTORS® in central Ohio agree with me, 98% of which would describe the current housing market as moderate to strong.

In an article that was released yesterday, the 2013 president of the Columbus Board of REALTORS® was quoted:

“Even with more homes being sold and sale prices up, the average time on the market continues to fall: down over 20 percent from a year ago”, said Chris Pedon… “With such excellent market conditions, we’re seeing inventory move quickly.”

If you are looking to buy a home, now is the time before the prices rise any more. If you need to sell your home, this is also a great time to do so while the market is so strong.
